The Seattle Seahawks dropped offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after just one season.
CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported the news of Grubb’s dismissal on Monday morning, an active morning in the NFL workplace.
“The Seahawks have fired offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after one season with the team,” Jones wrote on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Seattle fans knew Grubb if they followed major college football of course. He was previously on staff with the Washington Huskies, Seattle’s own, as their offensive coordinator under Kalen DeBoer. Grubb helped lead the Huskies to a National Championship appearance in the 2023 season.
His efforts were enough to get attention for an NFL job. But after one season, he’s back on the hunt.
The Seahawks didn’t make the NFL Playoffs yet again. Two seasons after their surprise appearance, led by veteran Geno Smith, the team has been good, not great, but not terrible either. A decent spot, but not one for a team that hoped to build off their success two years ago.
Where Grubb goes next is yet to be seen. There are plenty of coordinator positions that will be available both in the NFL and in college if he chooses to go back.
For Seattle, head coach Mike Macdonald will go back to the drawing board.
