New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley is facing a pretty frustrating situation with the New York Giants as the team could once again hit him with a franchise tag this offseason, just as they did last season before Barkley ultimately signed a one-year deal with the team. But it sounds like he realizes there’s not much he can control in the situation.
During a press conference this week, Saquon Barkley said that he was “numb” to the thought that the New York Giants could place a franchise tag on him once again this offseason, pointing out that he already had to deal with that once before.
“They did it last year. So, I’m numb to it,” Barkley said, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. “I don’t have any feelings toward that at all. If you’re gonna do it, just don’t wait until March 5. Just get it over with. If not, let me go. Simple.”
Barkley has made it clear that he wants to play his entire career with the New York Giants, but the team has been reluctant to give him a longterm deal. We’ll have to see if that changes this offseason or if he gets hit with a franchise tag once again.
