After playing the first six seasons of his career with the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley ultimately left the team this offseason, signing with the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent. But even though the move might have upset some fans, it doesn’t sound like Barkley really had a chance to return to the team even if he wanted to.
During a recent interaction with a fan criticizing his decision to leave the team, Saquon Barkley admitted the shocking truth that he didn’t even receive an offer this offseason from the New York Giants to stay with the team, so he had to sign elsewhere and ultimately chose the Eagles.
“Let me educate some of you fans here… I can’t bail or become a traitor if I never got an offer to come back.. so I went to the organization I felt that was the best and after already being here for a month man I’m excited to be a eagle ! Go birds,” Barkley said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Obviously, this is some pretty shocking news, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

It certainly adds context to his decision.
