Former New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley will be playing for a division rival this upcoming season after he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles during free agency, but it sounds like the was very much considering signing with a different team before coming to an agreement with the Eagles.
During a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, Saquon Barkley said that he was very interested in signing with the Houston Texans and that young star quarterback C.J. Stroud actually talked to him to try to recruit him to Houston.
“Probably the team that had my first interest was Houston. I got to communicate with C.J. and a couple of those boys, but this was before when you could actually put offers on the table and talk to teams,” Barkley said on the New Heights podcast according to the New York Post.
Obviously, Barkley ultimately chose to sign with the Eagles instead, but it certainly would have been fun to see one of the league’s top playmakers at running back unite with Stroud, who just had perhaps the most prolific rookie season of any quarterback in the history of the league.
