The San Francisco 49ers have one of the best players in the entire league at running back with MVP candidate Christian McCaffrey leading the way for the team, but the team still added a talented running back in the NFL Draft this year, and it sounds like the coaches are quite excited about what he’ll bring to the team.

The Niners traded up to select former Wisconsin and Louisville running back Isaac Guerendo in the fourth round, and head coach Kyle Shanahan loves one particular thing about him: his speed.

“Well we love his speed,” coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Saturday according to Pro Football Talk. “We think he’s got a lot of speed. All our backs can run, but it’s nice to add one who possibly can run a little bit faster just for the change of pace and things like that. We like his running style. His running style I think is similar to Elijah [Mitchell] and the style that he runs with, he’s built that way and like the 40 that he has.”

Obviously, Geurendo is not expected to be the team’s starter with McCaffrey returning again next season, but it sounds like the team is still happy about what he brings.
