The San Francisco 49ers were just a couple of plays away from winning the Super Bowl last season, but it sounds like they’re still heading into this upcoming season with a bit of a chip on their shoulder.
During a recent interview, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy made it clear that the team still has “that chip on our shoulder” even though they have been one of the most dominant teams in the league the past couple of seasons.
“It’s football,” Purdy told Omar Ruiz of NFL Media according to 49ers Webzone. “Every Sunday, you’re going to get everybody’s best shot, and nothing’s ever given to us. It doesn’t matter what you did last year, the years before. Every Sunday we have to go into it like we have to go and take it. And so, for me and myself, I never want to be complacent with we had this kind of season last year, the year before. It’s always a new season, and everybody’s coming back healthier and stronger, and you got to go take it every Sunday.”
The Niners were close to reaching their goals with a Super Bowl victory last season. We’ll have to see if they can accomplish it this season.
