There’s been a lot of speculation, rumors, and reports this offseason about the future of star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk with the San Francisco 49ers. But it finally seems like there has been some resolution.
Several times this offseason it has seemed that the Niners were considering trading Brandon Aiyuk before the season. But according to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the team has decided to keep the star receiver and iron out a long-term deal with him before the start of the season.
“They’re moving forward, and they want Aiyuk to be a part of the team in 2024,” Pelissero said according to Taylor Wirth of NBC Sports Bay Area. “So what I would anticipate here is all parties involved will go ahead and enjoy the Fourth of July holiday, regroup sometime after that. They’ve still got several weeks here to see if they can hammer out a deal that locks in Brandon Aiyuk with San Francisco for the long haul.”
Aiyuk has recorded more than 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past two seasons with the team and was a big part of the Niners’ run to the Super Bowl where they ultimately fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.
