The Russell Wilson Era for the Pittsburgh Steelers got off to an inglorious start in Week 1 with the quarterback on the sidelines during an 18-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Backup quarterback Justin Fields guided the team to a win with Wilson appearing on the sidelines in full pads despite being scratched from the game roster due to lingering injury rosters.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly revealed that Wilson didn’t handle head coach Mike Tomlin’s decision all that well in the locker room following the win.
“In the locker room, he didn’t look like a happy-go-lucky type of individual,” Kaboly said.
Kaboly then didn’t pushback against the idea that Wilson was “pouting” in the locker room after the Steelers moved to 1-0 on the season.
“Well, in terms of Russell Wilson it’s considering ‘pouting’ because he’s so positive about absolutely everything,” Kaboly said.
Wilson continues to rehab a calf injury he suffered on July 26th while pushing a sled during the opening conditioning test of training camp.
Wilson reportedly “tweaked” the injury leading up to the game, which resulted in Fields, the former Chicago Bears castaway, earning the start for his new team.
Only time will tell who starts for the Steelers in Week 2, when they head to Colorado to face Wilson’s former team, the Denver Broncos.
