The San Francisco 49ers may not have been pleased with the practice field they were given ahead of their Super Bowl LVIII matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, but it does not sound like the NFL is buying the complaints.
During his annual commissioner’s press conference on Monday evening, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had a pretty brutal message for the San Francisco 49ers in response to their complaints about the playing surface, saying that experts have “unanimously” agreed that it is a “very playable surface.”
“That work is being done every single day,” Goodell said regarding the preparation and testing of the practice field, according to Pro Football Talk. “We’ve had 23 experts out there. We’ve had the union out there. All of them think that’s a very playable surface. It’s softer than what they have practiced on, but that happens. It’s well within all of our testing standards. It is something that we think — all our experts, as well as neutral field inspectors — have all said, unanimously, that it’s a playable field.”
This is a pretty brutal and clear message from Goodell, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
What reason will the niners come up with next to try and be the underdog? https://t.co/3wuOUqrZ0H

Curious to see where the practice field conversation goes if there are any significant non-contact injuries in practice or this Sunday’s game for the 49ers. Unfortunate that it is an issue for the big game. You always want to prepare and calibrate for competition conditions. https://t.co/E56QdRFsZn

I’m shocked. Shocked I tell you.
Same guy who claims nothing is wrong with MetLife field even though every player in the league wants to see it burn and changed.
“It’s playable” isn’t exactly encouraging when the other team has a field they don’t have to worry about.

I hate issues that go like this
“hey we’ve got a problem”
“We don’t think you do”
And that’s it.

We’ll have to see how the 49ers handle the field conditions this week.
