If you follow the National Football League (NFL) at all, you know how controversial the national anthem has been for everyone that supports the league. The NFL tried implementing a policy where they would penalize a team if they knelt during the anthem.
For those out of the loop, players were kneeling to protest social injustice. Specifically, Colin Kaepernick was the player most ostracized for his kneeling during the anthem. The next season, Kaepernick did not get signed by an NFL team.
From ESPN:
The NFL is not expected to implement a new policy on the national anthem this season, league sources told ESPN, no matter how many meetings and conversations occur regarding the topic.
With that change, it looks like they were more talk than anything else. An intimidation tactic that had almost zero follow through.
At the very least, it will be a situation to monitor as fans are unsure where they stand with the league. They want them to take action, but their ideology is divided.
