The New England Patriots are on the cusp of a new era. Many expected the man in charge of that new era to be head coach Jerod Mayo, but Mayo was let go shortly after the final game of the season, a surprising win against the Buffalo Bills.

Now, a new coach will be at the helm, in charge of developing rookie quarterback Drake Maye into the next franchise quarterback in New England. However, another rookie quarterback on the Patriots roster may land elsewhere next season.

According to one prominent Patriots reporter, the Pats are receiving multiple inquiries on quarterback Joe Milton after he impressed in place of the injured Maye against the Bills.

There have been multiple QB-needy teams that have reached out to the (Patriots) inquiring about QB Joe Milton after his performance yesterday,” reported Carlos A. Lopez on Monday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“I think Milton looked great, it’s a huge advantage to have 2 QB on rookie contracts, always nice to have a start worthy backup if Maye goes down. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves it was back ups. I would only trade him for like a 2nd or 3rd. Otherwise no point in losing him,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“He’s yours for a first round pick. Nothing less. You don’t give away a stud backup playing for free to pay another back up $7-8 million,” another fan wrote.

“Feel like somebody will get desperate and trade 3rd for the kid. Hard to say no to that if you’re the pats. If not, I’d hang onto him as a high-ceiling backup that can keep you in games if need be,” one fan added.

“Trade him. I want to see him be successful some where. He may be better than Maye, but he will never get the chance barring an injury,” added someone else.

It’ll be interesting to see what direction New England takes regarding Milton.
