This weekend’s NFL playoffs showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game features a quarterback showdown between superstars Patrick Mahomes and MVP favorite Lamar Jackson. And it sounds like Mahomes has a lot of respect for his competitor heading into the weekend.

During his press conference this week, Patrick Mahomes had some high praise for Lamar Jackson ahead of this week’s game.

“He’s going to be the MVP for a reason,” Mahomes said. “He goes out there, he leads his team, he scores, he runs, he throws. He does whatever it takes to win, and that’s what the greats do.”

Despite the fact that both quarterbacks have been among the best quarterbacks in the AFC for the past few years, this will actually be the first-ever matchup between the two quarterbacks. But Mahomes seems to think that it will be the first of many such matchups between the two elite quarterbacks.

“I knew we were gonna play in a lot of games like this as our careers have gone on, and I’m sure this will be the first of many,” Mahomes said.

We’ll have to see who comes out on top this weekend.
