Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes has not been an underdog often in his NFL career. But in those rare instances, Mahomes and the Chiefs have been particularly dominant. So it makes sense that Mahomes isn’t necessarily worried about being an underdog in this week’s Super Bowl LVIII matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
During his press conference on Monday leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, Patrick Mahomes made it clear that he never feels like an underdog in any game, regardless of what the betting line may say.
“I think you approach it like any other game,” Mahomes said according to Pro Football Talk. “I never feel like the underdog. I always feel like we have a chance to win the football game and that’s how we approach every single game. We were underdogs in the last Super Bowl, so all you can do is just have the same mindset of just going out there, playing your best football and hoping that you end up with a win.”
That mentality has apparently led him to a lot of success as Mahomes has a staggering 9-3 record as an underdog in his career as a starter including wins over the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens during this playoff run.
Mahomes will have a chance to win as an underdog yet again this weekend as the Niners are slight favorites over the Chiefs heading into the game.
