The New Orleans Saints caused quite a stir this week when the team decided to go for it on fourth down with a fake kneel-down attempt to score a touchdown in the closing seconds of a blowout win over their division-rival Atlanta Falcons. But while Falcons head coach Arthur Smith was furious about the move, it sounds like one former Falcons star has no problem with it.
This week, former Atlanta Falcons defensive end Osi Umenyiora shared a video clip of him returning a fumble for a touchdown as time expired in a blowout win over the New Orleans Saints during his playing career with the Falcons.
In the caption, he indicated that he thinks players and teams should “humiliate your division rivals” when given the chance.
Ahead by nine points, with no time left, I could very easily have taken a knee or ran out of bounds. But I believe you owe it to the fans to humiliate your division rivals whenever you get the opportunity. #imjustsaying pic.twitter.com/yLnLiKMpJb

“Ahead by nine points, with no time left, I could very easily have taken a knee or ran out of bounds. But I believe you owe it to the fans to humiliate your division rivals whenever you get the opportunity. #imjustsaying,” Umenyiora said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
This is obviously a different perspective on the situation than most Falcons players, coaches and fans were taking after the game.
