Football is back, which can only mean one thing: “Jay Cutler sucks” battle cry is back. The Chicago Bears quarterback has been highly criticized over his career in Chicago and nearly all of it is justified, as the league’s most overpaid player has not only never made the leap to elite status but has never made the leap to above average status.
The Packers are among the teams that have particularly terrorized him, as Cutler entered their Week 1 matchup with Green Bay with a 1-11 record against the division rivals, but left the Soldier Field on Sunday with a 1-12 record after Green Bay’s 31-23 victory. New offensive coordinator Adam Gase clearly used a much more simple and dummed down playbook in the loss than Cutler had under previous regimes and although he didn’t look horrific, he did not play well, finishing 18-for-36 for 225 yards, one touchdown and one terrible fourth quarter interception.
Unsurprisingly, both Bears and non-Bears fans took to Twitter to unleash the fury on their quarterback:
