As San Francisco 49ers superstar pass rusher Nick Bosa prepares for the upcoming Super Bowl LVIII matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, he’s been watching film on the Kansas City offensive line. And one thing has certainly stood out for Bosa as he gets himself ready for the matchup.
During a press conference this week, Nick Bosa was asked for his opinion on offensive tackles Donovan Smith and Jawaan Taylor and he did not hesitate to call them out a little bit for the number of penalties the two have accumulated throughout this season.
“They hold a lot,” Bosa said.
It’s a pretty brutal and blunt assessment of the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line, but he’s not necessarily wrong. Taylor led the NFL with 20 penalties during the 2023 season, which included eight flags for holding penalties. Smith, meanwhile, was called for five penalties throughout the 2023 season, and four of those flags were for holding penalties.
Bosa, who was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season, will undoubtedly be one of the best pass rushers that the Chiefs have seen all season, so it will be interesting to see how Taylor and Smith handle it and if they’re able to avoid penalties.
