It sounds like there is a chance that Rex Ryan could return to the New York Jets.
The Jets are in search of a new head coach after firing former head coach Robert Saleh in the middle of the season. And it sounds like former Jets coach Rex Ryan could be in the mix.
During an appearance on ESPN New York radio on Monday morning, Ryan confirmed to Jake Asman that he expects to speak with the Jets for their head coaching opening after the regular season ends.
Ryan coached the Jets from 2009 to 2014 and helped lead the team to the AFC Championship Game after each of his first two seasons.
Needless to say, the shocking news of his potential return to the Jets led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“Actually a possibility, believe it or not, as a candidate who could be interviewed,” NFL insider said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
“Does the dude that wears the fire helmet approve? Completely unserious franchise,” one fan wrote.
“If you like your NFL head coaches to get tattoos of their wives wearing only the starting QB’s jersey, hoo-boy do we have a guy for you,” someone else said.
“Hear me out… the last time we had success was with him. He was cut too early! Give him the keys back and make things right,” another person added.
“I love the NFL,” someone else said.
“I cannot believe the Jets might actually bring him back. Forever stupid franchise,” another fan added.
We’ll have to see whether or not the Jets do decide to bring him back.
