Even after he admitted that he purposely cut block Patriots defensive lineman Zach Moore at the conclusion of Sunday’s game between the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots, the NFL will reportedly not fine Dominic Raiola for his actions.
For reference, these were the plays that sparked people’s attention. They occurred on the Lions’ final possession when the game was no longer in question.
Raiola left no room for interpretation with his comments after the game either.
“I cut him,” Raiola said. “We took a knee, so I cut the nose (tackle). They went for six (a touchdown). They went for a touchdown at 2 minutes. They could have took three knees and the game could have been over. It’s football. He wants to keep playing football, let’s play football. Not a big deal. It’s football.”
According to Raiola, the league office will not fine him for purposefully diving at an opponent’s knees.
“That’s an issue in the past,” Raiola said Tuesday. “And it really wasn’t an issue — no fine coming.”
The NFL – where Marshawn Lynch gets fined $100,000 for skipping out on media sessions while Dominic Raiola gets no punishment for purposefully attempting to injure an opponent. Cool beans.
