The NFL is adding another opportunity for players to prove themselves, this time in the form of a veterans-only combine. In addition to the regional combines, ones veteran free agents are allowed to attend, the NFL Scouting Combine and dozens of pro days across the country, the billion-dollar league will identify 100 veteran free agents to work out for teams.

The NFL sent out a memo, obtained by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network on Thursday, that informed the teams of the new event. As pointed out by Conor Orr from Around the NFL, this could serve as another valuable opportunity for both overlooked free agents and teams looking to identify potential pieces for OTAs, training camp and even 53-man rosters. According to Rapoport, the event will “serve to isolate and consolidate veteran free-agent talent for more focused evaluation on a comparative basis”.

It was not noted if the event will be broadcasted on NFL Network but considering the attention that the main combine, pro days and even individual workouts receive, it can be assumed that the network will dissect every moment of the 100-man event.
