Quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a devastating ankle injury last season to end his career with the Florida State Seminoles and cost the team a chance at the College Football Playoff. But after the New York Jets selected him in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, the team seems to think he’ll be ready to play soon and they’re excited about his potential.
During a press conference this week, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh had some high praise for Jordan Travis and what he could bring to the Jets in the future.
“I feel like he’s kind of a ball of clay,” Saleh said according to the New York Jets team website. “He’s a tremendously talented young man and extremely gifted, especially athletically. He’s got a lot of work to do, he hasn’t even scratched the surface. He’s winning games doing things that were just pure athleticism, and if we can tie the football part to it, I think we’ve got ourselves a [darn] good player.”
Obviously, Aaron Rodgers will be back leading the way for the Jets and veteran Tyrod Taylor will serve as his backup. So while the Jets won’t need Travis to play immediately, they’re clearly excited about what he could bring one day.
