Future NFL Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots suffered another humiliating defeat on Sunday, losing 21-17 to the Las Vegas Raiders in Nevada.
The loss dropped the Patriots to 1-5 on the season. The record almost assures that they will miss the NFL postseason for a second year in a row after the franchise has struggled for its first playoff win since the departure of legendary quarterback Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The losses are apparently starting to weigh on the psyche of Belichick. According to Teddy Bruschi, a current NFL analyst for ESPN that won three Super Bowls as a player under Belichick, the coach is “considering” moving on from his longtime organization.
.@TedyBruschi on if Bill Belichick's run in New England is ending:
"I think Bill Belichick is considering it. … I have always known Bill to only coach for meaningful wins … division championships, playoff wins, Super Bowls. … The meaningful wins are now all for him." pic.twitter.com/QUcvYzuwBL

“I think Bill Belichick is considering it. … I have always known Bill to only coach for meaningful wins … division championships, playoff wins, Super Bowls. … The meaningful wins are now all for him,” Bruschi said on Monday’s episode of Get Up.
The NFL world was quick to react to the shocking news:
Meaningful wins are all for him? That’s what it all about? What the fuck is Bruschi talking about here?? The MEDIA has pushed the Shula wins things. Belichick is coaching to win because he’s the coach of a football team and wants to win. This is so weird. https://t.co/Iaaoo1c9G4

The current state of the Patriots organization is making me increasingly more sad.
Things have gotten so ugly that a majority of the fanbase wants to force a guy out that headed the greatest modern dynasty in professional sports.
The worst part is I don’t totally disagree. https://t.co/bgvwv8EqWX

Well then. Tedy Bruschi says Belichick is seriously considering retirement after the season.
He certainly seems like he's beyond fed up. #Patriots #nfl https://t.co/yTYWqRnaWW— Rod Francis (@InRodWeTrustMTL) October 16, 2023
The Patriots hired Belichick as head coach in 2000 when he was the defensive coordinator of the New York Jets. Prior to the Patriots hiring him as head coach, his only head coaching experience came with the Cleveland Browns, who fired him after the 1995 season.
