The New England Patriots currently hold the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. And while the team is widely expected to choose a quarterback with the pick, given their recent struggles at the position, it sounds like the team is willing to consider all of its options.
During a recent interview with Steve Wyche of NFL Media, new New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo acknowledged that the quarterback position is “the priority” for the team, but he did not rule out going in a different direction with the pick, whether it’s a trade or selecting a different player.
“It’s the priority right now,” Mayo told Steve Wyche of NFL Media. “But with that being said, you have to really be in love with the guy to take him at No. 3. So really all the options are still open for us.”
The Patriots did add a veteran quarterback this month, signing Jacoby Brissett to a free-agent deal, and Mayo said “he could absolutely be our starter.”
We’ll have to see what the Patriots plan to do and who the team ends up naming their starting quarterback next season after the team struggled at the position in 2023.
