In a matter of seconds, the Tennessee Titans turned a likely six point deficit into a four point lead.
With less than a minute to go in the first half, the Steelers found themselves up by a score of 13-10. However, on a third and seven from Tennessee’s 17, Ben Roethlisberger threw an ill-timed interception in the end zone, thus wiping out an opportunity for what would have been a chip-shot field goal attempt to put the Steelers up by six.
Even more unfortunately for the Steelers, they wouldn’t even end the half with a lead.
On the very first play from scrimmage following the pick, Zach Mettenberger found a completely wide-open Nate Washington who somehow slipped by the entire Pittsburgh secondary. The resulting 80 yard touchdown was merely a formality and the Titans walked into halftime improbably up 17-13.
