After playing the first seven seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, wide receiver Mike Williams signed with the New York Jets this week to help bolster the team’s receiving corps. And it sounds like he’s excited to be a part of the team.
During his introductory press conference, Mike Williams opened up about why he chose to sign with the New York Jets, name-dropping Jets stars Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson.
“I just felt like it was a great fit for me,” Williams said. “Aaron, I want to be able to play with him. Pick his brain, learn from him. Playing alongside Garrett [Wilson], kinda reminds me of Keenan [Allen] a little bit. Similar style play, great route runners and I feel like we can complement each other in that area. The running game is pretty good, defense is elite so I just feel like we have a pretty good opportunity in front of us.”

Williams played in just three games last season before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. So as he adjusts to his new team, he will also be trying to bounce back from the injury that ended his 2023 season.
We’ll have to see how Williams performs next season.
