The Seattle Seahawks are under new leadership now as the team decided to part ways with longtime head coach Pete Carroll and bring in former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald as their new head coach. And it sounds like Macdonald is already doing what he can to create a new identity in Seattle.
According to a report from Brady Henderson of ESPN, Mike Macdonald has already made a pretty significant change to Seahawks HQ.
“The removal of the basketball hoop inside the auditorium at Seahawks HQs isn’t the only notable change to the VMAC under Mike Macdonald. Leonard Williams told us the wall that previously showed blown-up pictures of star players/famous moments from the Carroll era is now blank,” Henderson said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Williams told Henderson that the team is “obviously going to respect tradition and the history of the Seahawks, but I think it’s given us a clean foundation to create whatever we want to be. We’re not chasing to be like any other team that’s been here before. We want to create our own identity.”
Obviously, this is a pretty big move, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
Matt LaFleur did stuff akin to this when he got to Green Bay. Some of it was just modernizing the building and making it all seem less stuffy. But they also took down large photos of HOFers and replaced them with current players.

Good
Make your own story
Every time we get someone good in the secondary it’s the “next LOB”
Anytime a RB runs hard it’s “Beastmode Jr”
I’m tired of it. The league is different, we are different, living in the past will get you in the middle of the road https://t.co/htbpQZTCey

this isn't about disassociating from that era like some may take it as and more trying to get current players to earn their own space on the wall and embrace the new start but also! i hate it!! https://t.co/ONKoaxb55x

I’ve said this for a while now that this fanbase and organization has been stuck with that LOB era and needed understand that’s in the past
That being said nobody should be mad about Mike tryna build his own culture and identity https://t.co/XCFBvtAVyE

I have no idea why anyone who respects themselves would want to be overshadowed by the guy that was fired so you could be better than him
This is a good thing https://t.co/EO7hN0RaAt

It’s clear that Macdonald is trying to build something new in Seattle. We’ll have to see how it works out.
