Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is reportedly in a bit of a contract dispute with the team as he seeks more guaranteed money on his contract, but it does not sound like that dispute will keep him from participating in the team’s mandatory minicamp.
This week, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay announced that Matthew Stafford had decided to attend OTAs with the team, even if he and the team had not reached an agreement on his contract extension.
“Sean McVay didn’t provide an update regarding Matthew Stafford’s contract but did say he will attend mandatory minicamp next week,” Bridget Condon of the NFL Network said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
McVay has continually declined to give any substantiative updates on the contract talks between Stafford and the team, saying that he wants to keep all of that conversation “in house,” and it appears he’s maintaining that stance.
It’s commonplace for players to us their presence at practices and team activities in order as leverage in contract negotiations, but it does not sound like Stafford is planning to do that with the Los Angeles Rams this offseason.
