On Monday afternoon the Atlanta Falcons officially came to terms with top veteran free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins. And it sounds like a certain Atlanta Falcons legend very much approves of the signing.
During an appearance on Up & Adams on Monday afternoon, Matt Ryan made it clear that he thinks the addition of Kirk Cousins immediately makes the Falcons the favorite to win the NFC South division next season.
“I think so. I really do,” Ryan said. “Outside of the quarterback play for the Falcons, they were probably the most complete team [in the NFC South] when you’re talking about what they had on the offensive line, running back position, wide receiver group, playing that good defense last season.”
IF Kirk Cousins signs with the #Falcons… are they instantly the NFC South division favorites??? @M_Ryan02 @heykayadams pic.twitter.com/6QIc0Yatjt

“I do think you get a veteran Quarterback in there, given that group, I think they become the frontrunner in the South,” Ryan concluded.
It’s clear that Ryan has some high hopes for the Falcons after adding Cousins to the mix, and he certainly has a point. Even despite the struggles at the quarterback position last season, the Falcons were still in playoff contention late into the season.
We’ll have to see whether or not Ryan’s prediction holds true and Cousins pushes them over the top.
