As Marvin Harrison Jr. goes through his first offseason with the Arizona Cardinals after he was selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL Draft, it seems that the team has a bit of a unique problem on their hands – he’s working a bit too hard, drawing concern from his head coach.
During a recent press conference, Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon revealed that he is a little concerned with how much extra work Marvin Harrison Jr. is putting in outside of practice.
“He does a lot extra, probably too much, I’m going to be fighting him about that,” Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said according to Pro Football Talk.
Gannon explained that in addition to the regular team workouts, Harrison will also come early, stay late, and work out on his own. He wants to make sure it isn’t too much and he’s prepared for the upcoming season.
“If we’re spaced out how many reps and the amount of workload he gets, and then he goes and runs 100 routes on the weekend, he might be dragging today. Now, he doesn’t drag, but I’m just talking about, I love extra work, but you’ve got to be smart about it. You’ve got to have a routine about what you’re doing,” Gannon said.
It’s a pretty surprising problem to have with such a young player, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
What a weird quote from a HC.

JG’s comments led me to a question …
is it easier/more difficult/just different to coach or train a player like MHJ who not only has elite potential but also has spent most of his life learning from his HOF father how to train/play/workout?— Nettles11 (@Nettles111) June 3, 2024
Hilarious. "He grinds too much for greatness" 🤣🤣🤣

We’ll have to see if the team can get Harrison to slow down a little bit.
