Last week, the Los Angeles Chargers made some pretty significant changes in leadership as the team fired head coach Brandon Staley as well as longtime general manager Tom Telesco after an embarrassing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night. And it looks like the team’s interim leadership is making a pretty significant move at the game’s most important position.

According to a report from league insider Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Los Angeles Chargers have added young quarterback Will Grier from the New England Patriots practice squad.

“The #Chargers signed QB Will Grier off the #Patriots’ practice squad, per source. The first significant move by interim GM JoJo Wooden,” Pellisero said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“As a corresponding move, the #Chargers are waiving QB Max Duggan, per source. The former TCU star will be back on the practice squad if he clears,” Pelissero said in a follow-up post.

With star quarterback Justin Herbert out with an injury, this is a pretty significant move as there is actually a chance that Grier could see the field for the team as the season comes to a close, and the NFL world had a lot to say about the news on social media.

The team started Easton Stick in Thursday night’s game against the Raiders. We’ll have to see whether or not Stick holds onto that role after the departure of Staley.
