New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor has had quite an extensive history of run-ins with the law, most recently regarding his inability to follow terms that come along with his standing as a registered sex offender. And on Wednesday, this issue yet again rose its head for the Hall of Fame linebacker.
Taylor was notably declared a sex offender back in 2011 following accusations he had been intimate with a 16-year-old girl.
Since then, he has been arrested for failing to inform law enforcement of a change of residency, which is a requirement of anyone named a sex offender.
According to TMZ, this issue occurred yet again, as Taylor turned himself in on an outstanding felony warrant Wednesday afternoon. The warrant again pertained to not informing law enforcement about a residency change.
Taylor reportedly remained in jail throughout the night, ultimately being released at around 3 AM on Thursday.
TMZ also retrieved a statement from Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, on the matter, calling the situation a “significant misunderstanding.”
“My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to the recent charges,” Eiglarsh said. “As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. This situation is a significant misunderstanding. We are confident that, once the prosecutors review the exculpatory evidence demonstrating Mr. Taylor’s innocence, he will once again achieve a favorable outcome.”
You would think that Taylor would have learned from his first arrest pertaining to his terms as a sex offender. But regardless, Taylor yet again has charges against him, which obviously isn’t a great look…
