The Las Vegas Raiders were reportedly considering trading up into the top of the first round to select a quarterback in the NFL Draft this weekend. But when that didn’t happen, it seems like the team decided to simply roll with the quarterbacks they currently have on the roster.
During a recent press conference, Las Vegas Raiders general manager Tom Teleco was asked about the team’s decision not to take a quarterback in the draft, revealing that there wasn’t really a quarterback that interested them in any round outside of the first round.
“On the third day? No. Really not the second day either. First day, yes. But not after that,” Telesco said in his Day 3 press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “If we felt there was a quarterback out there that was better than we had, or could potentially be better, certainly we would have done something [about] it. But it didn’t line up.”
The Raiders had the No. 13 overall pick in the draft. By the time it was their turn to pick, six quarterbacks had already come off the board, so the team decided to select tight end Brock Bowers.
Since the Raiders did not add a quarterback, Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell are set to compete for the starting role this offseason.
