With former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy taking over as the new offensive coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders and the team desperately in need of help at the quarterback position, there was a lot of speculation that the Las Vegas Raiders could be interested in trading for Bears quarterback Justin Fields. But in a pretty brutal turn of events, it doesn’t sound like that’s going to happen.
On Monday afternoon, the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to sign veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew to compete with second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell for the team’s starting quarterback role. And as Bryan Perez of The Bears Talk points out, that sure doesn’t look good for Justin Fields.
“I get we all love Justin Fields. But the Raiders — who have the guy that called plays for Fields the last two years — chose to give Minshew $15M guaranteed over making a trade. What more do we need to know?” Perez said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers bringing in Russell Wilson, the Atlanta Falcons signing Kirk Cousins and the Raiders signing Minshew, there aren’t that many possible landing spots available for Fields to get a starting role next season.
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens, but it’s not looking optimistic for him.
