Reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson is obviously the most important player for the Baltimore Ravens as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season, but he was not able to work with the team on Sunday.
On Sunday afternoon, the Baltimore Ravens announced that star quarterback Lamar Jackson had been “sent home” from practice with an undisclosed illness.
“QB Lamar Jackson is not practicing today and has been sent home with an illness,” Jackson said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

The Ravens did not provide any details about his illness or give any information regarding how long he is expected to be unavailable from practice, but the news still led to a lot of reactions on social media.

With Jackson unavailable, veteran quarterback Josh Johnson was in control of the first-string offense for the Ravens. Behind him on the depth chart is rookie quarterback Devin Leary, who was just selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, as well as undrafted free agent Emory Jones.
We’ll have to see when Jackson will be able to return to the team, but they’ll obviously want to have him back on the field.
