When the New England Patriots and legendary head coach Bill Belichick decided to part ways after the 2023 season, most fans and those in the media assumed that the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach would soon find a new team. Obviously, that didn’t ultimately happen, much to the surprise of San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Shanahan went on to reveal that he actually offered Belichick any role he wanted on his San Francisco 49ers coaching staff, including defensive coordinator. Belichick, however, politely declined.
