Kirk Cousins may have been surprised when the Atlanta Falcons decided to select rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but it sounds like he is still planning to work closely with the new quarterback to ensure the success of the team.
During an appearance on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast this week, Kirk Cousins made it clear that he has no beef with Michael Penix Jr. over the situation.
“Mike’s been great,” Cousins said. “Always going to be competition in this league and you’ve always go out and earn it. I’m going to control what I can control, also understand there’s a lot you don’t control.”
He also made it clear that he is going to work closely with Penix in the next several years because that’s how he thinks that quarterbacks rooms should function.
“I think it’s so important that the quarterback room is just working together to help one another succeed. And that’s the way it’s always been, that’s the way it always needs to be, no matter what the names are in the room,” Cousins said. “We need to all be working together to help one another be the best we can be.”
It’s clear that Cousins is planning to support Penix however he can as a good teammate.
