The Atlanta Falcons hit quarterback Kirk Cousins with quite a surprise when they selected quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 pick in the NFL Draft just weeks after signing him to a four-year contract to be the team’s new quarterback. Cousins was obviously caught off guard, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to let the situation fester.
During a recent appearance on the Bussin’ with the Boys, Kirk Cousins was asked whether or not there is “beef” with the Falcons following their decision to draft Penix just weeks after signing him. And it sounds like Cousins is trying his best to make sure there isn’t.
“No, I don’t think there can be. I don’t think it’s helpful,” Cousins said according to Pro Football Talk.
Cousins made it clear that his goal of winning a Super Bowl is difficult enough without having beef with his team.
“We’re trying to win the Super Bowl and it’s hard enough. So let’s all be on the same page and let’s go try to win the Super Bowl,” Cousins said.
“You’re reminded again that there are things you control, and there are a lot of things you don’t control,” Cousins continued.
Even if Cousins might not have loved the decision to bring in Penix, it sounds like he’s ready to move on.
