When the Pittsburgh Steelers decided to trade former starting quarterback Kenny Pickett his offseason, it came as a surprise to many as the team had previously indicated that they intended to allow Pickett to compete for the starting quarterback role even after bringing in Russell Wilson. But it sounds like some bad blood formed when the Steelers brought in a new quarterback.
According to a report from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers decided to trade Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles after he began to show signs that he was unhappy that the team decided to add Russell Wilson.
“Despite being 14-10 as a starter and getting to work with new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, Pickett was traded because of his behavior and expressed unhappiness over the arrival of Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback who won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks, sources told the Post-Gazette,” Dulac wrote.
“The day after the Steelers agreed to sign Wilson, 35, Pickett canceled a scheduled out-of-town workout with the team’s wide receivers, according to sources. He has not been at the team’s South Side facility.”
Obviously, it’s pretty brutal news that the breakup between Pickett and the Steelers was not exactly amicable, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

How Disappointing. This was an opportunity to face the challenge head on and win the job over Russ. https://t.co/xHnywGov37

Last thing I will ask on Kenny Pickett for the Steelers. What has he done in the NFL that makes him feel that he has any right to get mad about the moves the team makes. If he was better than that move would not have taken place.

Now, the Steelers will roll with Wilson and Justin Fields while Pickett will serve as the backup in Philadelphia.
