When the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs took to the practice field on Sunday, they were missing one notable player as superstar defensive lineman Chris Jones was not practicing with the team. And it sounds like it’s the result of an injury.
During his press conference after the practice session, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed that the All-Pro and Pro Bowl defensive tackle missed practice as a result of a groin strain.
However, Reid was not exactly willing to give any further assessment of the injury or a prediction of how long Chris Jones would be sidelined, simply saying “we’ll see” when asked for details.
“I think he’s going to be fine,” Reid said according to Pro Football Talk. “You go through those things, but he’s strong — his leg’s strong, his knee is solid, all that. So he’ll be fine.”
Jones missed the entire training camp for the Chiefs last year as he held out due to a contract dispute with the team. After signing a new contract to stay with the team this offseason, he will not be holding back this year, but it sounds like he will indeed miss time with the injury.
