Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has made no formal announcements or decisions about his future with the team or whether he will choose to retire following the team’s current run through the playoffs. But it sounds like the team is putting a plan in place in case he does decide to walk away from the game following this season.
According to a report from NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Chiefs have a potential retirement decision from Andy Reid “on their radar screen.”
“We have said, and continue to say, that the Chiefs have a possible Andy Reid retirement after the current postseason on their radar screen,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk this week.
Of course, Chiefs fans might be upset by this possibility or simply refuse to believe this, but Florio is standing by his reporting.
“Again, we’re not saying Reid is retiring. We are saying that the possibility of Reid retiring is on the Chiefs’ radar screen. If you don’t like it or don’t want to believe it, that’s your business. If you think we’re saying it because we want the Chiefs to lose on Sunday (I’ve picked them to win), that’s your business,” Florio wrote.
We’ll have to see what Reid ultimately decides to do after the season.
