Wednesday’s injury report for the Los Angeles Chargers had an absence that drastically changed things for their season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders and set the tone of their season.
Franchise quarterback Justin Herbert is a critical piece for the Chargers as they hope to have a successful season under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, but his health status has been a question in recent weeks.
Herbert missed multiple weeks after suffering an injury to his right foot in practice back in July. He returned to practice on Aug. 19 and hasn’t missed since, although he was a regular participant on the injury report.
On Wednesday, however, Herbert was not on the team’s injury report and he gave an update that’ll be comforting news to Chargers fans as he made it clear that his time away from practice was due to an abundance of caution.
“If I didn’t feel comfortable, I wouldn’t be out there,” Herbert had to say after his return according to Alexander Insdorf of boltbeat.com.
His presence will definitely be a huge boost to a team that hired Harbaugh in a move that showed they plan on being competitive immediately.
Now the Bolts can focus on making sure the team is on the same page ahead of their season opener, instead of worrying about whether or not Herbert would be available.
