On Wednesday morning, the Buffalo Bills somewhat shockingly decided to part ways with star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, trading him to the Houston Texans in return for just a second-round pick in next year’s draft. The trade obviously has major ramifications for both the Texans and the Bills, but there are few players that will feel it more than Josh Allen.
Throughout the majority of his career with the Buffalo Bills, Stefon Diggs has been the primary target for Josh Allen with Diggs totaling more than 1,000 receiving yards in every season he played with the Bills. With him gone, it obviously won’t be quite as easy for Allen on offense, but it will provide him a pretty big opportunity.
As NFL analyst Robert Griffin III points out, Allen now has a chance to prove that he can be successful without his star receiver, much like Patrick Mahomes did after the Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
Josh Allen now gets the chance to prove he doesn’t need Stefon Diggs anymore just like Patrick Mahomes proved he didn’t need Tyreek Hill.

“Josh Allen now gets the chance to prove he doesn’t need Stefon Diggs anymore just like Patrick Mahomes proved he didn’t need Tyreek Hill,” Griffin said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
It’s a pretty interesting comparison, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.
This is low-key spicy and I love it https://t.co/3Q7QRSeTix

The problem is there is no Travis Kelce-Swift on the Bills. https://t.co/ydRhThy60h

I think people will soon realize, if they haven't already, that Josh Allen isnt Patrick Mahomes. https://t.co/02a1RS7UMQ

Did he not already prove that? I feel like this isn’t the same at all lol. Diggs last year wasn’t in his prime the way reek was when he left the chiefs. https://t.co/Y7GMi6L4AC

We’ll have to see if Allen can indeed prove himself this upcoming season.
