The Cleveland Browns were finally getting a drive going late in the second quarter in their game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Down 20-0, Johnny Manziel had managed to bring the Browns to the Bengals 19 yard line, largely thanks to a Bengals 15 yard penalty and a 19 yard pass from Manziel to Josh Gordon. However, while attempting to extend a play, Manziel would try to do something which may have flown in college but had little chance of success in the NFL.
Throwing late, off your back foot into the middle of the field is never advisable and the Cornerback Formerly Known as Pacman Jones gleefully gobbled up the ball and prevented the Browns from getting on the scoreboard at all in the first half.
Manziel’s first half stats looked just as ugly as that throw: 4/9 for 22 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs.
