Johnny Manziel’s time in Cleveland was a disaster, as the former first-round pick flamed out of the NFL after just 14 games. The now-Montreal Alouettes quarterback reflected on his time in Ohio appearing on Kevin Hart’s web series ‘Cold as Balls,’ admitting he didn’t like his new digs upon first arrival.
“Once I landed and went to Berea, Ohio for the first time, I was like, ‘Can I go back to college?'”
“I don’t know anybody, I don’t know where I’m at. It’s cold. I don’t like it.”
Manziel isn’t wrong for feeling sad about being in Cleveland. He went from a bonafide superstar at Texas A&M to being alone in a completely different type of city. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Cleveland but for Manziel, it was probably quite the culture shock. I guess its cold.
NFL players can’t pick where they end up. If Manziel had a do-over and could pick, the chances he’d go to Cleveland are slim to none. He obviously would have stayed in Texas because he would have been most comfortable there.
Change sucks – especially when there are bad memories included. Manziel was allowed to have a negative first impression of Cleveland.
