Roger Goodell held a press conference on Friday that was, by almost every single metric, a disaster. Goodell put forth no actual concrete changes, made a ton of vague allusions to making the right decisions in the future (without actually saying what he’ll do differently to ensure that the right decisions get made) and generally looked thoroughly unprepared for the assembled media who held nothing back during the meeting.
If you missed the conference (and you missed nothing of consequence if you did), John Oliver provided the highlights of it on Last Week Tonight, including the complete embarrassment of Goodell by a TMZ reporter (a TMZ reporter!) and the casual dismissal of Goodell by some of the NFL’s own players and retired players who were Tweeting their opinions during the conference.
