Future NFL Hall of Fame defensive end J.J. Watt had the perfect response to a racist post by former Pittsburgh Steelers great Rashard Mendenhall.
In the original post, Mendenhall posited that white men couldn’t play football.
“I’m sick of average white guys commenting on football. Y’all not even good at football,” Mendenhall wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Can we please replace the Pro Bowl with an All-Black vs. All-White bowl so these cats can stop trying to teach me who’s good at football. I’m better than ur goat.”
Many NFL observers created lists of potential teams in what was hilariously dubbed “The Segregation Bowl.”
Watt noted an apparent weakness in the white team: “We’d get cooked at corner, not gonna lie. Nobody on our squad is covering Tyreek,” wrote with a crying-laughing emoji.
A fan, however, wanted to know why Watt was “ignoring the blatant racism,” and Watt quickly put him in his place.
“Buddy, listen… We don’t need to be offended by everything in the entire world,” Watt wrote. “‘He said white guys can’t play football.’ I thought to myself, ‘I’m a white guy. I’m very good at football’ and concluded that his statement had no validity. Instead of arguing, I had some fun. End.”
