Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers are 1-0 following a Week 1 win against their arch-rival Las Vegas Raiders.
Harbaugh made his gallant return to the NFL after winning an NCAA championship with the Michigan Wolverines, his alma mater.
But Harbaugh sent an apparent shot across Michigan’s bow during an appearance on The Herd hosted by the legendary Colin Cowherd.
Harbaugh initially praised his players for their performance against the Raiders.
“After being on the field for a day with the players, I realized the culture is already set here,” Harbaugh said.
However, in an apparent slight to Michigan, Harbaugh went on to say that his current job is the “best darn job” he’s ever had.
“These guys have been doing the dirty work. The culture was set. I realized early on, I’m the lucky one to be here. This is the best darn job I’ve ever had,” he said.
That is high praise considering that Harbaugh has only been with the Chargers for a couple of months and that he spent eight seasons with the Wolverines.
Maybe Harbaugh is speaking in hyperbole with his praise of the Chargers job, but it’s still notable he went that far after only one regular season win with his new team.
