Recent reports emerged that there may be a rift in the relationship between New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and head coach Robert Saleh. But according to Johnson, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
This discourse began with NFL Network’s Colleen Wolfe reporting that Johnson and Saleh got into a “very heated conversation” at the NFL Owner’s Meeting earlier this week.
“I will say that, from a very reliable source at the owner’s meetings, there was a very heated conversation between Woody (Johnson) and Robert Saleh,” said Wolfe on Around The NFL. “To the point where it was a little awkward. What were they arguing about?”

There was some immediate pushback about this report from Wolfe, particularly from SNY’s Connor Hughes, who was also at the Owner’s Meeting.
“There was no verbal argument between Robert Saleh and Woody Johnson at the NFL’s annual meeting reception,” tweeted Hughes. “I know because I was at the party where this apparently happened, feet from Saleh & Johnson, before Johnson & Jets contingent left. Woody took them out to dinner. Checked in with two sources at the dinner. Confirmed nothing happened there, either.”

Woody Johnson took to social media to speak on the matter, blasting Wolfe and NFL Network over this “absolutely false” report.
“All this nonsense about a heated argument between Coach Saleh and me at the League Meeting is absolutely false,” wrote Johnson. “It is yet another irresponsible report from NFL Network. Please disregard.”

It’s obviously impossible to uncover the real truth unless you were in the room of this alleged incident. But according to Johnson, he and Saleh’s relationship is completely fine, which should take a bit of worry away from Jets fans.
