The New York Jets are looking to bounce back from a disastrous 2023-24 NFL season where the team saw their star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers suffer a season-ending in Week 1. But despite the time away from the field for the former NFL MVP, the team has now decided that Rodgers does not need to get a taste of NFL action before the start of the 2024-25 season.
On Tuesday, it was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Jets head coach Robert Saleh does not plan to rush Rodgers back into action coming off his torn Achilles injury last year. Saleh shared with reporters Tuesday that Rodgers is “unlikely” to play in the preseason this year.
Jets HC Robert Saleh said that QB Aaron Rodgers, who is recovering from his Achilles injury, is unlikely to play this preseason.

This is perhaps not all that shocking of a decision considering Rodgers, at 40 years of age, already has all of the NFL experience that he would ever need. If there is ever someone who can jump back into action without any in-game reps in the preseason, it is someone like Rodgers.
But with that being said, there were rumblings last season that Rodgers was planning on returning to the field. So to instead sit out the 2023-24 season and then the 2024-25 preseason should potentially concern Jets fans out there anticipating Aaron Rodgers to play like his vintage self this coming season.
