The New York Jets are out to hire their next head coach. On Monday, Jets fans vocally pushed the team to hire one of their former greats and a hot coaching candidate.
Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn made a name for himself in New York in the 1990s. Now, as Glenn finished another successful year in the Motor City, he’s become a significant name in the coaching carousel.
New York already interviewed the former Jet great, and now the team plans to host another round. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Jets will hold their second interview with Glenn this week.
“DC Aaron Glenn, one of the top coaching candidates, is set for an in-person, second interview with the Jets,” Rapoport said citing himself and fellow insider Mike Garafolo.
#Lions DC Aaron Glenn, one of the top coaching candidates, is set for an in-person, second interview with the #Jets, per me and @MikeGarafolo.

The Jets drafted Glenn originally in 1994. He went on to make his home in New York for the next nine seasons. So in other words, Jets fans have plenty of familiarity with him. His work has spoken for itself the past few seasons and he’s more than earned himself a head coaching job.
Glenn was in the news earlier this offseason after refusing to interview with the New England Patriots. He was unhappy over the way the Patriots handled their coaching situation after they dumped Jerod Mayo after one year at the helm.
Glenn has worked under Dan Campbell with the Lions since the 2021 NFL season.
Jets fans were potentially ecstatic over the idea that the team could hire Glenn.
Woody, don’t let him out the building. Get Riddick. Give them time, and don’t do something stupid. (ie Trade for Aaron Rodgers) https://t.co/ZFueLVGo2b

Aaron Glenn is the modern version of what everyone thinks they want by wanting Rex back, for the record.
Fully on-board with bringing Glenn home.
And NO, I don’t care about what happened on Saturday. https://t.co/LPDsVIGonK

If he’s the Jets top candidate than they can’t let him go to the Saints interview. Let’s see how this plays out…. https://t.co/FiEIIqD0j5
