The New York Jets have made their minds up. They have their new head coach.
Former Jets great Aaron Glenn never left the building after the team welcomed him for an interview. The two sides agreed to terms on a deal that will make Glenn the next head coach of the franchise, a significant moment for the team.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Glenn’s hiring.
“A new coach in New York: Jets are hiring former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their new head coach,” Schefter said on X.
Glenn is the eighth coach the Jets have hired since the turn of the 21st century. Their hope is that he brings stability, pride, and more importantly results to the franchise seeking its first Super Bowl since the 1969 season.
The Jets have had their moments, but since they last made the playoffs, it’s been anything but a pleasant experience in East Rutherford. No matter who’s been there, the team always seems to find a way to fall short.
In hiring Glenn, New York hopes that those days are over. And so ends their coaching search, which will now turn into a frenzy on assistant coaches.
Glenn helped lead a defense in Detroit that played very well at times. The Lions have lost their top two coordinators and defensive line coach this offseason, as attrition has hit them hard.
